Sodium fluoride (NaF) is an important inorganic fluoride with various functions such as caries prevention, sterilization, anti-corrosion, melting aid, passivation, and strengthening. It is widely used in oral care, industrial production, metal treatment, wood preservation, agriculture, medicine, and other fields.
1、 Oral care field (most common and primary use)
1. Preventing dental caries (tooth decay)
Reacts with hydroxyapatite on the surface of teeth to generate fluorapatite, enhancing enamel hardness and acid resistance.
Prevent oral bacteria from producing acid, reduce enamel demineralization, and promote remineralization.
2. Application products
Toothpaste, mouthwash, fluoride containing foam, fluoride protective paint, community drinking water fluoride, dental fluoride coating materials.
2、 Industrial sector
1. Metal surface treatment (phosphating, passivation)
Used as phosphating and passivation solution for steel, aluminum, and magnesium alloys to improve coating adhesion and rust prevention ability.
Used as an activator and stabilizer in electroplating and anodizing.
2. Flux
Reduce melting point, used for welding flux, casting flux, and smelting flux.
Applied to aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metal smelting.
3. Fluorine chemical raw materials
As the basic raw material for synthesizing fluorides such as potassium fluoroborate, potassium fluorotitanate, and fluorosilicates.
Intermediate used for manufacturing special glass, fluororubber, and fluoroplastics.
4. Glass and Ceramic Industry
Used as a glass clarifying agent, decolorizing agent, and emulsifying agent to improve the transparency and stability of glass.
Used for melting and modification of enamel and ceramic glazes.
3、 Wood anti-corrosion and mildew prevention
As a wood preservative, it kills fungi, termites, and borers, extending the service life of wood.
Commonly used for railway sleepers, outdoor wooden structures, and anti-corrosion treatment of wooden furniture.
